the practice of emrgnc

The art within the practice of emrgnc is simply described as resolving the duality of the"either/or" with the "and" into Oneness.

It is not that there is one right way, or that any way is wrong. No one is smart enough to be completely wrong. It is only that there is a right way, at a right time, that will also change, as time changes.

By doing the right thing, at the right time, there is an economy of effort. The wisdom of sages explains how this is done. Two thousand years of understanding and we are still learning ...

The Taoist Leaders Book of Non-Ado

"The Tao does nothing;
And yet nothing is left undone"
(Tzu 1989)

"The Taoist leadership is an art.
Listen, watch, recognise patterns and improvise
Your artistry will grow as you follow the Tao"
(Dreher 1997:152)

"Wise Leaders see how everything is related,
How one thing naturally leads to another.
Empowered by this vision,
They anticipate and prevent problems."
(Dreher 1997:46)

"Leaders are called on to see for the group,
To facilitate the group's vision
But where does this vision come from?
Taoist leaders sense what emerges,
They do not impose their will
And call it shared."
(Dreher 1997:141)

"A tree wider
Than your embrace,
Springs from a tiny seed.
A tower more than nine stories high,
Begins with a mound of earth.
A journey of a thousand miles
Begins with a single step"
(Tzu 1989:Tao 64)

"The hero
Has only youth and courage,
They will always be overcome
By the advantage of experience and wisdom.
Learn to recognise and respect those wiser,
To perfect oneself is difficult but not rare.
To have perfect wisdom is rare indeed."
(Ming-Dao 1992)

"Our intention is only part of any outcome,
In all that we do we are connected with all others
It is not reasonable to expect to control this complexity
Align yourself with the Way and nothing will remain undone
Have a passion for, but detachment from, the outcome
Walk the path with pure motives and integrity
And The Universe will do the rest."
(Dreher 1997:208)

"With strength of character, Nothing is impossible.
When your heart expands to embrace the impossible,
You are able to lead with the Tao"
(Tzu 1989:Tao 59)"

"The Leader's Journey is to see beyond ourselves,
To flow with the natural patterns
To create new harmonies that lie within us
Emerging to transform the world"
(Dreher 1997:259)

"The investigation of the Outer Tao,
Is as important as the inner self.
Do not fail to explore any thing that interests you,
Any skill you want to master must be learned.
Every insecurity should be overcome,
Every question should be answered,
Otherwise every uncertainty,
Will be an obstacle"
(Ming-Dao 1992)

"He who knows men is clever,
He who knows himself has insight,
He who conquers men has strength,
He who conquers himself is truly strong"
(Tzu 1989:Tao 33)

"To realise that our knowledge is ignorance,
This is a noble insight,
To regard our ignorance as knowledge,
Is to be mentally ill,
Only when we are sick of our illness,
Shall we cease to be ill,
This is the secret of health."
(Tzu 1989:Tao 71)

"The softest of all things,
Overrides the hardest of all things,
Only nothing can enter into no-space,
Hence know the advantages of Non-Ado."
(Tzu 1989:Tao 43)

"The Sage desires to be desireless,
Learns to unlearn his learning,
He helps all to find their own nature,
But does not venture to lead them."
(Tzu 1989:Tao 64)

"With the best of Leaders,
When the work is done,
The Project is completed,
The people all say:
"We did it ourselves"
(Tzu 1989:Tao 17)
