A cartographer
draws maps to record newly explored terrain. These maps, once made,
guide those who follow, allowing them to proceed with confidence, understanding
where they are in the landscape.
When we explore
complex problems we do so in thought. A Thought Cartographer
maps the exploration of our thinking, recording the journey, to guide
us when we return in person, and for all those that follow.
Too often,
when we do take the time to explore our thoughts, we do not map where
we have been. Collectively we build a picture of the landscape, but
do not share and combine the many parts.
A Thought
Cartographer records the landmarks visited by all. In making a
map of the whole we can recognise where we are, and where others have
already travelled. Seeing the whole landscape means we no longer need
feel lost when exploring the parts.
